This location is a dream come true for me. Since I was a little girl, I have always wanted to go see this place even before I was a photographer. I don’t have much on my bucket list. I’ve never wanted to go skydiving or swim with sharks. What I did have on my bucket list was to see God’s Thumb. I was so nervous before going to this location because I knew it was a hike and I was scared I wouldn’t be able to find it and this has been something I have wanted to go to forever. After a much easier hike than I had anticipated, we came into a clearing and there was God’s Thumb glowing in the early evening light. When I say this was a dream come true, I really mean it. I had enough service to FaceTime my husband at the base. I had a hard time keeping tears from running out of my eyes while talking to him because he knew how excited I was to finally see this location. God’s thumb is a steep, grassy mountain on one side, while the other side is a sheer cliff of rock. Throughout the shoot, we slowly made our way up to the ridge where we were able to see both sides of the mountain as the sun was setting in the distance. We watched as the sky went from a soft blue, to a pinkish-cotton candy colored horizon, to an orange stripe, and then back to a grey-blue light once the sun disappeared under the ocean. Marissa and Justin are the sweetest couple and it was such a great experience to share with them in this perfect moment at God’s Thumb.
